Life is crazy!
Sorry I haven't been posting here lately folks! I've been super busy! But, here's a little something for everyone to ponder: What's your favorite cruelty free brand? Overall which brand do you find yourself gravitating to more? I'd love to know so that I can try some of them out! For me, I'm loving this little company named Lollia. If they made toothpaste it would probably be perfect! Their scents are so awesome and their packaging is charming and unique. Check out Lollia.com! I'll be posting the separate lists soon! I promise!

Don't Forget About Fur, Wool, Angora and Leather!
So, you've started switching your beauty and household products and you're feeling pretty great, but let's not forget to change what type clothes and accessories we buy as well. Finding Vegan friendly clothes and accessories is super easy and more chic than it used to be! The development of synthetic materials has come a long way. Buying a purse, belt, shoes, gloves, or wallet that looks like leather but isn't leather is so much cheaper, and better yet, doesn't kill animals! Faux fur is looking so much more realistic that it seems silly to kill animals to wear on your body, they need their fur, you don't! (Personally, I don't buy even the faux fur because I think it really sends the wrong message.) Let's not ignore some overlooked fashion no-no's! Angora, wool, and other animal "hair" are used a lot in sweaters, scarves, gloves, and coats and most people think those animals aren't harmed, just shaved, but I'm here to tell you, they are harmed. Have a look at some of PETA's, (peta.org), exposés on wool and angora, you will be shocked at the treatment of these animals! Recently it was also uncovered that your leather goods may not even come from cows! Dogs are being slaughtered and used! Not that it wasn't bad enough that innocent cows died for that leather purse or belt, but DOGS!? So don't forget, when going cruelty free, that switching what you wear is just as important to animal welfare as switching your cosmetics!
Just one example of a cute but Vegan friendly item!
(I just bought this cute little purse for summer!)
Find it at JC Penney. That's right, JC Penney!

Why is Testing on Animals Bad?
A lady asked me yesterday, "Why is testing a perfume or cosmetics on an animal a bad thing? They are just putting cosmetics on them. What's wrong with that?" My answer wasn't an easy one, but necessary. I explained that the companies are trying to find out if certain ingredients or certain products will cause a reaction on skin and eyes, so, they use rabbits and rats and such to test on. This leads to rashes and sores and eye infections etc. and hair loss and all sorts of other problems. In short, they suffer so that we don't have to develop a rash...and some of us still do! I asked her if she would want chemicals for cosmetics or perfumes tested on her pet knowing that there was a chance the product would cause painful sores or rashes and she said "Of course not!" So, one more person was enlightened. Thankfully she said she will be making some changes in what products she buys from now on and I hope she meant it. I won't post pics here of the ugly rashes and sores these poor animals get...I'll simply suggest that you check out peta.org to see for yourself. I've made a lifelong commitment to buy only cruelty free products. Will you?
